Honor Dethrones Samsung: Reigns Supreme in Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leading brand in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market. For the first time, the offshoot of Huawei has achieved this milestone in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones following China.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has outpaced Samsung Electronics, becoming the leading manufacturer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as per the data provided by the industry consulting firm, Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, earned the top spot for the first time in Q2. Western Europe, being the second-biggest market for foldable phones after China, is a highly competitive arena for brands like Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as per a recent report by Counterpoint.
Honor, after introducing its well-received Magic V2 book-style phone internationally in September of last year, experienced a 455% increase in its worldwide foldable phone shipments in the second quarter. This represented the most significant annual growth among all brands, as indicated by the report.
Worldwide, Huawei, Honor's local competitor, retained its position as the leading brand for foldable phones for the second quarter in a row, largely due to its robust performance in the Chinese market, as reported by Counterpoint in another study.
