Honor Dethrones Samsung: Leads Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market for the First Time
Honor surpasses Samsung to secure the leading position in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market. For the first time, the Huawei offshoot has become the top player in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones after China.
Honor, a smartphone company from China, outperformed Samsung Electronics, taking the top spot as the leading producer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as per information provided by Counterpoint Research, an industry consulting firm.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, became the leading brand in the foldable handset market for the first time in the second quarter. After China, Western Europe is the next largest market for these devices, with companies like Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google competing fiercely, as per a recent report from Counterpoint.
Honor, who debuted its widely acclaimed Magic V2 book-style outside of China in September of last year, experienced a substantial increase in its worldwide foldable shipments by 455 percent in the second quarter. This was the most significant annual growth compared to all other brands, according to the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei has maintained its position as the top brand for foldable phones for two successive quarters, largely due to its robust performance in the Chinese market, as per a separate report by Counterpoint.
