Honor Dethrones Samsung: Leads the Foldable Smartphone Market in Western Europe
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leader in Western Europe's foldable smartphone sector. The company, which separated from Huawei, achieved this top position for the first time in Western Europe, which is the second most significant market for foldable phones after China.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has overtaken Samsung Electronics to become the leading manufacturer of foldable handsets in Western Europe, as per data from industry consultancy Counterpoint Research.
For the first time in the second quarter, Honor – a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies – became the leader. Western Europe holds the position as the second biggest market for foldable smartphones following China, and it's a competitive arena for manufacturers such as Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as per a recent report by Counterpoint.
The globally recognized brand, Honor, which unveiled its widely acclaimed Magic V2 in a unique book-style design outside of China in the previous September, experienced a remarkable 455 per cent surge in its worldwide foldable shipments during the second quarter. This surge was the most significant annual increase observed among all brands, as indicated by the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei has retained its position as the leading brand in the foldable-phone market for two consecutive quarters, thanks to its strong sales in China, as per a separate report from Counterpoint.
