Honor Dethrones Samsung: Emerges as the Top Player in Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leading brand in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market. For the first time, the offshoot of Huawei has achieved this feat in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable smartphones, following China.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has overtaken Samsung Electronics to become the top producer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as reported by data from the industry consulting firm, Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, has topped the charts for the first time in Q2. After China, Western Europe is the next biggest market for foldable phones, with intense competition among companies like Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as revealed by a recent Counterpoint study.
Honor, which unveiled its widely recognized book-like Magic V2 outside China in September last year, witnessed a significant 455 per cent increase in its global foldable dispatches during the second quarter, the highest annual growth across all brands, as per the report.
Worldwide, Huawei, Honor's local competitor, maintained its position as the top brand for foldable phones for two straight quarters due to its impressive performance in the Chinese market, as per a separate report by Counterpoint.
