Cal Crutchlow Withdraws from Silverstone Wildcard; Remy Gardner Steps In
Hand injury complications and additional surgery lead to Cal Crutchlow's withdrawal
Cal Crutchlow has had to pull out of his wildcard entry for the British MotoGP event held at Silverstone.
Remy Gardner is set to replace Crutchlow and race for Yamaha from August 2 to 4.
Cal Crutchlow has announced that he won't be able to participate in his wild card spot at the Monster Energy British Grand Prix at Silverstone this year.
"Two months ago, I underwent hand surgery, but the healing process has been far from smooth, resulting in additional surgery and further complications."
"It’s crucial to allow my hand to completely recover before attempting to ride the MotoGP bike."
"I am eager to return and ride with my Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP Test Team at the earliest opportunity. My goal is to progress our project aimed at enhancing both the current and next year’s package for the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team."
"This year, we've noticed some progress due to the tireless efforts from the Yamaha team and everyone involved. I'm looking forward to an exciting British GP and I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!"
"In conclusion, I want to extend my best wishes to Remy and hope he enjoys himself. Having already ridden a MotoGP bike and gotten familiar with the Yamaha during the last race in Germany, he is in an ideal position to take on the bike once more."
Yamaha's WSBK rider Gardner, who also competed in the last MotoGP race in Germany, will have another chance to participate.
Gardner expressed his well-wishes, stating, "Above all, I wish for Cal's swift recovery. I visited him last week and hope he can return to riding soon and continue supporting the MotoGP project."
“Clearly, I'm thrilled to have the chance to ride the M1 once more.
"Silverstone is a circuit I enjoy, and I hope to provide Yamaha and the team with valuable insights while continuing to savor this experience. I appreciate the efforts of everyone at Yamaha and eagerly anticipate getting back on the bike!"
