Geely Auto’s Zeekr 7X: A Competitive Challenge to Tesla’s Model Y with Additional 4% Discount as Deliveries Kick Off

Geely slashes the price of its Zeekr 7X by an additional 4% as shipments commence, intensifying competition for Model Y. Geely Auto's division, Zeekr Intelligent Technology, has set the 7X's cost at 229,900 yuan as it started deliveries on Friday.

Geely Auto reduced its price list by 4 per cent as it started delivering its newest electric SUV model to buyers on Friday, posing a fresh challenge to the Tesla Model Y in the race for dominance in China's electric vehicle market.

"Having engaged with some of our clients, we chose to set the cost of the model at an even more appealing price," stated An Conghui, CEO of Zeekr. "The 7X is the topmost all-electric SUV available at the most competitive price."

The extra discount has increased Zeekr's pricing edge in the fierce price competition happening in the largest global market for electric vehicles. The 7X, which was already priced 4 per cent less than Model Y before this most recent price drop, has had over 58,000 vehicles reserved since the car manufacturer, based in Hangzhou, started accepting orders three weeks prior.

Zeekr provides two variants of its five-seater 7X model: a regular version with a range of 605km (376 miles) per charge, and a longer-range model capable of covering up to 780km on a single charge.

The condensed version powered by Zeekr's unique lithium-ion-phosphate (LFP) battery includes 800-volt super-speed charging technology. This can provide almost 400km of driving distance after a mere 10.5 minutes of charging time. Zeekr stated that their batteries have the quickest charging ability globally.
