"Chip Ganassi once delivered a memorable quote. I had shown kindness to someone instead of being ruthlessly competitive in a race against him. His response to me was: 'If you're looking for friends, you should bring your own; this isn't the place to make new ones.'"

Ducati's technical leader discusses Marc Marquez's adjustment to the 2025 motorcycle
The technical chief at Ducati has shed light on Marc Marquez's adjustment process to the GP25.
Last season, while with Gresini, Marquez piloted a GP23, rejuvenating his career and propelling him back to the forefront of the competition.
This season, he advances significantly as a Ducati factory team rider, equipped with the top-notch MotoGP machinery available.
However, his team member Francesco Bagnaia is already ahead in adjusting.
"Davide Barana mentioned to Marca that [Marquez]'s style is somewhat distinct from Pecco's."
Marc excels at navigating turns; his remarkable finesse shines through on specific tracks and in particular bends, where he performs maneuvers that challenge other competitors.
"I have to mention that indeed, he desires this, though not in a direct manner, it's implied within his remarks.
"We make efforts to assist him, working on the configuration, as there's much that can be achieved on the motorcycle through adjustments to the setup."
"You don't need a separate frame or anything of that sort. The frame, its setup, how weight is distributed, and the bike's structural design can already make a big difference in how the bike performs."
Marquez has probably already navigated the toughest phase of his switch from Honda to Ducati.
"Initially, the electronics posed a greater challenge, as upon his arrival, he continued with practices he had developed at Honda. However, it must be acknowledged that he has completely transformed that aspect," Barana noted.
He has grasped the mechanics of our motorcycle, aligning his style somewhat with that of other riders. His preference leans towards an engine that's a bit more 'gritty' and responsive.
"This is partly a routine I developed while at Honda, largely due to their unique approach to engine management."
"He prefers to slightly control the engine, but it's more of a subtle distinction than a significant change."
Marquez and Bagnaia made their first appearances on the GP25 during the off-season test in Barcelona.
Fortunately for Ducati, their received feedback was comparable.
"In Barcelona, their remarks were remarkably in sync," Barana noted.
"That's positive, yet we're prepared to explore alternate routes if necessary.
"They don't necessarily have to opt for it by force. However, their agreement on the matter is beneficial."
Barana has analyzed Marquez’s data and identifies the potential brilliance he can unleash.
"Barana noted that his remarkable ability in cornering comes from an acute sensitivity to the front tire, which he believes is what enables him to push the motorcycle to its boundaries."
"Indeed, on occasion, it surpasses this threshold, typically during training sessions where precautions are implemented."
"With the Ducati, there are fewer falls. He's a well-rounded rider. We're aiming to have him apply strong braking, something Pecco already excels at and is also a hallmark of Marc.
It's clear from observing him that he's an exceptionally bright young man, demonstrating abilities that go beyond mere strength or talent.

Lewis Duncan reports that the main topic of discussion for the 2025 season will likely be KTM's future. The Austrian company is experiencing a financial crisis, significantly affecting its racing activities.
Throughout the organization, there has been a reduction in its manufacturing operations. Although MotoGP is scheduled to continue as expected in 2025, the brand intends to exit the event in 2026 as part of its ongoing reorganization strategy.
The future of the racing division could potentially be secured, but the circumstances are constantly changing and likely to experience several developments before reaching a conclusion.
Peter McLaren: Beyond the fight for the world championship, KTM's concerning financial troubles could significantly impact MotoGP. This comes at a time when the series is already dealing with the postponed Liberty agreement.
Fortunately, the KTM MotoGP initiative appears secure for the year 2025. However, uncertainty looms for 2026, particularly concerning the fate of the RC16 with the introduction of new 850cc regulations in 2027.
By the close of this year, the majority of other manufacturers are anticipated to have a prototype 850cc motorcycle ready for testing on the track.
The ambiguity is likely to weigh on the thoughts of KTM's quartet of riders—Pedro Acosta, Brad Binder, Maverick Vinales, and Enea Bastianini, who form the most formidable MotoGP team the company has ever assembled—as well as on the minds of the team staff.
Competing teams are quick to snatch up riders or important staff members if they become available, which exacerbates KTM's challenges.
Looking at the bright side, if KTM's search for funding leads to the involvement of global motorsport icon Lewis Hamilton in MotoGP, it would be beneficial for the sport.
Jordan Moreland: It will be fascinating to observe Jorge Martin's attitude during the season, particularly if events don't unfold as he hopes. Being the World Champion, he holds himself to high standards. However, the real test will be whether he can steer Aprilia onto a successful path.
Alex Whitworth suggests that the rivalry between Bagnaia and Marquez might evolve into a significant event. However, the looming downfall of KTM, one of the five manufacturers in the championship, may overshadow nearly all discussions about the sport this year.
Notably, they presently have agreements with MotoGP's standout talent, Pedro Acosta, and, via CFMoto Aspar, they also have a contract with David Alonso, a rising star in the junior categories.
The departure of KTM from MotoGP would indeed be monumental, particularly with the upcoming rule change in 2027 drawing closer.
Derry Munikartono expressed that he is uninterested in discussing the "Red showdown" involving Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia, as he feels he has heard enough about it.
In my view, one of the most captivating narratives for the 2025 season would be Liberty Media's upcoming acquisition of MotoGP.
Liberty’s acquisition of Dorna, the organization responsible for handling MotoGP's commercial operations, suggests a potential rise in the series' popularity and success, similar to what they achieved with Formula 1.
After purchasing Formula 1 in 2017, Liberty quickly elevated the series to become one of the most popular sporting events globally, if not the top. Many in the MotoGP community anticipate a similar transformation when Liberty takes control of the motorcycle racing series.
However, there is a challenge regarding the EU's antitrust investigation that has delayed the acquisition until the middle of 2025. Despite the enthusiasm surrounding the potential takeover, we must hold off on embracing Liberty Media with optimism until a decision is reached.

Mercedes has been advised to allow Andrea Kimi Antonelli some "breathing room" during his debut season.
Young sensation Antonelli has been chosen by Toto Wolff to succeed Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes in 2025.
Despite his exceptional talent, it is yet to be determined how Antonelli will adjust to Formula 1.

"We're uncertain about Mercedes' position in the rankings. Over the last few seasons, they have been inconsistent and haven't secured a clear standing," Lewis Larkam mentioned on the Crash F1 podcast.
"They haven't consistently maintained championship-level seasons, occasionally showing strong performances such as those in Vegas. However, they couldn't provide any reasoning for their success during those times."
"If this trend extends into 2025, which I expect it will at least initially, setting a specific target for Antonelli becomes challenging."
According to Toto Wolff, it seems unlikely that they will establish any particular objectives to reach.
"He has shown a strong desire to minimize the buzz surrounding Antonelli."
Kimi is likely to aim for podium finishes, victories, and pole positions, although it's uncertain if there will be a concrete goal established.
"Although there is some pressure involved, he should be allowed some room to breathe at the start."
"They are introducing an 18-year-old with a promising future ahead of him. They consider him to be their solution to a competitor like Max Verstappen."
"I don't think they'll simply get rid of him if he begins slowly or fails to meet the anticipated expectations."
Mercedes may prefer that he stays unnoticed and avoids any accidents, instead of delivering standout performances that are expected to develop over time.
'Kimi Antonelli Expected to Show Impressive Speed'
Connor McDonagh remarked, "This is an opportune year for Antonelli to come on board. The pivotal year is 2026. Toto has mentioned that the atmosphere within the team is positive as they prepare for the introduction of new engines."
Antonelli will spend the year gaining knowledge and experience.
"We'll witness his natural speed, but it's possible to enhance it by managing the tires effectively."
In his rookie season, Charles Leclerc showed impressive speed when competing against Sebastian Vettel. By his second year, he had significantly enhanced his ability to manage his tyres.
Lewis Larkam further stated, "In his debut season, Oscar Piastri was undeniably fast, but he has made progress in terms of maintaining consistency and managing his tires effectively."
"The situation will be comparable for Antonelli."

According to Connor McDonagh on the Crash F1 podcast, a key achievement for Ferrari in the previous year was their ability to address and resolve their challenges during the season's development.
In Barcelona, their enhancements set them at a disadvantage, causing them to fall to the third or fourth fastest team. At Silverstone, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc tested different setups.
"They moved past that challenge. They returned with an improved setup for Monza and achieved a surprising victory at COTA."
