Flavio Briatore’s Bold Alpine F1 Revival: Eddie Jordan Reveals the ‘Magic Wand’ Promise for Podium Glory by 2027
Alpine F1's Commitment from Flavio Briatore Uncovered | "He Possesses a Special Talent"
"His unique ability seems to effortlessly bring about results."
Renowned Formula 1 team owner Eddie Jordan has disclosed that Flavio Briatore has assured him that Alpine will secure a podium finish by the year 2027.
In June, it was revealed that Briatore would be making a comeback to Enstone in the role of executive advisor.
Flavio Briatore has a storied past in Formula 1, having led the team to championship victories during its Benetton era in the 1990s and again under the Renault name in the 2000s.
Since 2009, when he was compelled to resign from his position as Renault's team principal, the Italian has not occupied any major position in Formula 1.
Briatore stepped away from the sport after being implicated in the Crashgate controversy, where Renault's Nelson Piquet Jr. deliberately crashed during the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.
During an episode of the Formula for Success podcast, Jordan shared his thoughts on why he believes Alpine will be a team to keep an eye on in the future.
"Alpine is definitely a sure thing," stated Jordan. "Whether I was in a discussion with a key sponsor, my bank manager, or anyone else, Flavio would simply barge in unannounced."
"That's how he operated, and I would have acted similarly. Such things don't occur now, but during my era in Formula 1, Flavio was truly an exceptional individual."
There were aspects of him that I disliked, and others that I admired, but one thing is certain—he is predictable and he made a commitment to me, saying, 'I assure you, Eddie, by 2026 or 2027, Alpine will secure a spot on the podium.'
"I'm not going to pretend I disagree, because I really do agree. He has a special ability to make things happen."
Alpine has faced a challenging 2024 season, managing to secure only 13 points across 18 races.
This places them in ninth position in the F1 constructors' standings, with only Sauber behind them.
Owing to unsatisfactory results, especially concerning engine performance, Alpine has decided to discontinue their in-house engine program for 2026. This choice has been met with disapproval from the Viry branch of the company.
According to Jordan, Briatore is concentrating on enhancing the car's performance instead of recruiting a high-profile driver.
"Flavio's goal is to create the ultimate car, as we've mentioned before, and this approach will naturally draw the top driver to it. That's his method and philosophy," he stated.
"Some people take a different approach. They focus on securing the top driver first and then figure out how to make it successful, much like Ferrari's strategy of attempting to recruit Lewis Hamilton."
