Ducati Defends Youth Development Strategy Amidst Marquez Signing Controversy
Ducati denies allegations of abandoning their principles by signing Marc Marquez. "People are claiming that we have shifted our focus and decisions away from young talent."
Ducati maintains that their commitment to nurturing young riders remains strong, even in light of the consequences of signing Marc Marquez.
The manufacturer's choice to elevate Marquez to their official team for the upcoming year led to the departure of Jorge Martin, Marco Bezzecchi, and the Pramac satellite team.
Pramac head Paolo Campinoti emphasized that his new company, Yamaha, is committed to the development of young riders, a vision that Ducati no longer supports.
However, Davide Tardozzi, the manager of the Ducati team, has responded.
Tardozzi informed TNT Sports that there is a widespread belief that they have altered their approach and choices concerning the younger players.
"However, we are the sole team planning to invest in a Moto2 rider next year. Therefore, we have not abandoned our concept."
"We continue to believe that investing in young riders is important. However, as they mature, they desire a factory motorcycle."
"Marc isn't a young rider. He's among the most senior on the grid. However, we have access to the data. He's riding a 2023 model, and we can view the data."
The Moto2 rider mentioned by Tardozzi is Fermin Aldeguer.
Currently, Aldeguer is set to be the sole newcomer in the 2025 MotoGP roster.
Ducati signed the young Spanish rider earlier this year, and he will join either their Gresini or VR46 teams.
They are aiming for a result akin to the one Pedro Acosta achieved for KTM this year.
Significantly, Ducati is banking on Aldeguer to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to nurturing young talent, especially with Martin and Bezzecchi set to join Aprilia's factory team next season.
