Ducati Defends Youth Development Strategy Amid Marquez Signing Controversy
Ducati denies allegations of forsaking their principles by recruiting Marc Marquez
"The common narrative is that we've shifted our strategy, our choices, in favor of younger talent"
Ducati affirms their commitment to nurturing emerging talent remains steadfast, even in the wake of bringing Marc Marquez on board.
The decision by the manufacturer to elevate Marquez to their premier team next year led to the departure of Jorge Martin, Marco Bezzecchi, and also affected the Pramac satellite team.
Pramac's chief Paolo Campinoti has emphasized that his current company, Yamaha, is committed to the development of young talent, a vision he feels Ducati has abandoned.
However, Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi has responded sharply.
"Tardozzi conveyed to TNT Sports that there's a common perception of us having altered our stance and decisions concerning the younger players."
"However, we stand alone in our commitment to sponsor a Moto2 rider next year. Thus, our concept has not been discarded."
"We continue to believe that investing in young riders is worthwhile. However, as they mature, their aspirations shift towards desiring a factory bike."
"Marc isn't exactly in his prime. He's among the most senior racers out there. However, the metrics are clear. He's riding a '23 model, and the numbers don't lie."
Tardozzi mentioned Fermin Aldeguer as the promising prospect in Moto2.
Currently, Aldeguer is set to be the sole newcomer in the 2025 MotoGP roster of racers.
Earlier this year, Ducati secured the services of the young Spanish rider, who will be assigned to one of their squads, either Gresini or VR46.
They are aspiring for an influence akin to what Pedro Acosta brought to KTM this season.
Significantly, Ducati aims to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to nurturing young talent by showing that Aldeguer's success is a result of their support, especially now that Martin and Bezzecchi are set to join Aprilia as factory team members in the coming year.
