**”Daniel Ricciardo Apologizes for Hulkenberg Clash Amid Penalty-Laden Italian GP”**
Daniel Ricciardo comments on collision with Nico Hulkenberg: “I believed there was enough room; I said sorry”
Daniel Ricciardo addresses the incident involving Haas during the F1 Italian Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo mentioned that he expressed his apologies to Nico Hulkenberg after they collided on the first lap of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
Red Bull driver Ricciardo and Hulkenberg were competing in the midfield during the first lap of Sunday’s race at Monza when they collided at Turn 8.
Ricciardo mentioned that he believed he had enough room, but then he felt a collision. This resulted in Hulkenberg's Haas being pushed onto the dirt track, allowing Kevin Magnussen, his teammate, to overtake him.
The Australian driver initially received a five-second penalty for the incident. However, he subsequently had to serve a 10-second penalty because one of his mechanics made contact with his car during the initial penalty at the pit stop.
Ricciardo wrapped up a challenging race on home turf for the Red Bull team by finishing in 13th place.
"In the end, we just weren't fast enough today, even without considering the penalties," he stated.
"We gave it our best shot, and I was really having fun battling closely at the beginning, but I ended up colliding with Nico at Turn 8."
"After the race, I had a conversation with him. I believed there was enough space, but then I felt the contact, indicating I hadn't given him sufficient room. I apologized for that."
"It's challenging because you push yourself to the limit, but even the tiniest differences can impact the outcome."
"The car seemed to perform well afterward, and we gave it everything we had with the resources available. Since Friday afternoon, I have been striving to extract the utmost performance from the vehicle."
"From my perspective, I’m feeling much improved this weekend, and we came quite near to earning some points.”
Tsunoda 'disappointed'
RB's performance at the Italian Grand Prix was heavily influenced by Hulkenberg, as per team member Laurent Mekies. A crash involving Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda led to the Japanese driver's race coming to an early end.
"I'm quite frustrated; it's disappointing that my race ended just a few laps after the start because of a collision with Nico," Tsunoda stated.
"I attempted to give him plenty of room, but it looked like he froze, lost control, and collided with me."
“Regrettably, we had to pull the car out of the race due to damage sustained to the floor.
"I noticed it immediately and attempted to keep going, but the vehicle was skidding, and I just couldn't control it."
"With upcoming races in Baku and Singapore, we expect our car to perform strongly, and we are optimistic about having successful weekends."
Mekies is frustrated about the Tsunoda incident because it cost him important track time with the upgraded RB vehicle that was brought to Monza.
"Regarding today's race, Hulkenberg seemed to control the pace. Daniel received a five-second penalty for pushing him off the track. Following that, Nico collided with Yuki, which ultimately resulted in us having to retire the car," he explained.
"The most disappointing part of Yuki's retirement is losing those 40 laps, which would have helped us better understand the new updates we implemented."
"Daniel was given an additional 10-second penalty because we failed to correctly implement the initial penalty."
"We must reassess our protocols for this situation and take lessons from today's error. Although these incidents occur, our pit crew's performance has mostly been outstanding this season."
