Chinese Tech Firm MiniMax Launches Video-01, a Text-to-Video Generator Model, Challenging OpenAI’s Sora in AI Innovation
China's artificial intelligence powerhouse, MiniMax, has unveiled a text-to-video creation model to compete with OpenAI's Sora. The inaugural version of the company's product, Video-01, mirrors the capabilities of Sora. Anticipated future upgrades are set to allow users to produce videos from pictures.
Video-01 allows a user to insert a text description to generate a video that can last up to six seconds. The entire procedure, from entering the text to producing the video, takes approximately two minutes.
At the event, the founder and CEO of MiniMax, Yan Junjie, announced that video-01 marks the company's initial version of their video-creating software. He emphasized that subsequent enhancements will allow users to produce videos from photos and also edit these videos, as reported by local news outlets.
