Chinese AI Powerhouse MiniMax Unveils Video-01, A Text-to-Video Generation Model to Challenge OpenAI’s Sora
Chinese AI powerhouse, MiniMax, has unveiled a text-to-video creation model, positioning itself as a competitor to OpenAI's Sora. Video-01, the company's initial version of this tool akin to Sora, is designed with future enhancements in mind that will allow users to create videos using images.
Video-01 allows a user to input text descriptions and from these, it can generate a video up to six seconds long. The entire process, from typing in the text to producing the video, requires approximately two minutes.
Yan Junjie, the founder and CEO of MiniMax, announced at the event that video-01 is the initial version of the company's video production tool. He highlighted that future enhancements will allow users to create videos using images and edit them, as reported by local news outlets.
