Chinese AI Powerhouse MiniMax Unveils Video-01: A Text-to-Video Generating Model to Challenge OpenAI’s Sora
China's AI powerhouse, MiniMax, has unveiled a text-to-video creation model, positioning it as a competitor to OpenAI's Sora. The initial version, known as Video-01, is similar to Sora, and future enhancements are anticipated to allow users to create videos from static images.
Video-01 allows a user to input a text description and produce a video of up to six seconds long. The entire procedure, from entering the text to creating the video, takes approximately two minutes.
At the event, Yan Junjie, the CEO and founder of MiniMax, announced that video-01 is the initial version of the company's video creation tool. He mentioned that forthcoming updates will allow users to create videos from pictures and also edit them, as reported by local news outlets.
