Chinese AI Giant MiniMax Unveils Text-to-Video Tool ‘Video-01’ to Compete with OpenAI’s Sora: Future Updates to Facilitate Image-to-Video Conversion
MiniMax, a prominent AI player from China, has introduced a text-to-video creation model, aiming to compete with OpenAI's Sora. The initial version, called Video-01, is the company's first attempt at a tool similar to Sora. Future updates are anticipated to allow users to create videos directly from images.
Video-01 provides the functionality for a user to enter a text description in order to produce a video that lasts no more than six seconds. The entire procedure, from providing the text cue to the creation of the video, approximately takes two minutes.
Yan Junjie, the CEO and founder of MiniMax, announced at the event that video-01 is the initial version of the company's video creation tool. He emphasized that upcoming enhancements will allow users to create videos from pictures and edit them, as per reports from local news outlets.
