China’s AI Pioneer MiniMax Unveils Video-01, a Text-to-Video Generation Model, Challenging OpenAI’s Sora
The Chinese AI powerhouse, MiniMax, has unveiled a text-to-video creation model, aiming to compete with OpenAI's Sora. The initial version of their tool, called Video-01, mirrors the capabilities of Sora, with forthcoming upgrades anticipated to allow users to produce videos from pictures.
Video-01 allows a user to input written descriptions to generate a video of up to six seconds long. The process, from entering the text to the creation of the video, lasts approximately two minutes.
Yan Junjie, the founder and CEO of MiniMax, announced at the event that video-01 is the company's initial version of their video creation tool. He highlighted that upcoming enhancements will allow users to create videos from pictures and edit them, as per regional media coverage.
