Charles Leclerc evaluates the prospect of facing Lewis Hamilton: ‘I'm not sure what his weaknesses are.’
Charles Leclerc anticipates partnering with Lewis Hamilton in 2025.
Charles Leclerc has expressed his keen interest in observing how Lewis Hamilton operates, as well as understanding the reasons behind his remarkable success in Formula 1, as Hamilton prepares to join Ferrari next year.
Hamilton and Leclerc are set to create a formidable Formula 1 team by teaming up at Ferrari for the 2025 season.
In February, the sporting community was taken by surprise when the seven-time world champion made the unexpected decision to leave Mercedes and join Ferrari.
Since the beginning of his Formula 1 journey in 2007, Hamilton has been associated with the Mercedes team, initially racing for McLaren-Mercedes.
In 2013, he joined the Mercedes factory team and secured six of his seven championships while with them.
During a conversation with The Race, Leclerc evaluated the difficulties of competing against Hamilton.
Leclerc expressed his eagerness to understand the secrets behind Lewis's successful career. "I'm really interested in finding out what he's done correctly to achieve such great success," he mentioned. "Lewis has very few flaws—actually, I can't think of any weaknesses he has. He's a remarkably strong competitor, always present, incredibly fast, and consistently performs well."
"I am very eager to gain insights from Lewis while also demonstrating my abilities in the same vehicle as him. Both of these aspects drive my motivation significantly."
During their two-year stint as teammates, Leclerc consistently outperformed Sebastian Vettel, making the challenge of competing with a multiple-time world champion familiar ground for the driver from Monaco.
The present Ferrari driver recognized the abilities of his teammates during his F1 career, admitting that having strong competition within the team is preferable to having a "second driver" by your side.
Charles Leclerc expressed his gratitude for his experiences in Formula 1, saying, "From the moment I entered the sport, I've been incredibly fortunate." He continued, "Rather than wishing for a second-tier driver as a teammate, I've always believed it's far more advantageous to compete alongside the best."
"I've had incredibly quick teammates who have driven me to improve, and with Lewis, I'll also gain a lot of knowledge."
Leclerc holds the third position in the 2024 F1 drivers' rankings, having secured two wins.
