ByteDance Bolsters AI Research: TikTok Owner Hires Top Start-up Talent Amid Advances in GenAI Technology
ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has recruited significant personnel from start-ups, demonstrating a sustained dedication to AI. The company's recent employee acquisitions align with its continuing strategy to bolster GenAI research, which is already yielding positive results.
ByteDance, which owns TikTok and its Chinese counterpart, Douyin, is advancing its strategy to enhance its research capacity in large language models (LLMs). These are the technologies employed to create generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools, such as ChatGPT. This move comes as the company starts to see positive results from its recent endeavors.
The firm has incorporated a minimum of two distinguished AI professionals into its tech team, concentrating on language and graphics model evolution.
ByteDance has reportedly established extended plans to boost research related to LLM, as per a source close to the situation who wished to remain anonymous due to not being permitted to communicate with the press. However, the source also clarified that contrary to previous reports from Chinese media, the company currently has no intentions to create a separate LLM research institution.
ByteDance has yet to react to a request for remarks as of Wednesday.
