ByteDance Bolsters AI Ambitions: TikTok Owner Taps Startup Talent for GenAI Research Enhancement
ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has recruited notable professionals from various start-ups, indicating a sustained dedication towards AI. The company's recruitment drive aligns with their ongoing strategy to bolster GenAI research, a move that's starting to show promising early results.
ByteDance, the company that owns TikTok and its Chinese counterpart Douyin, is advancing its strategies to enhance its research capacity in large language models (LLMs). These are the technologies employed to create generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools such as ChatGPT. This move comes as the company's recent endeavors start to show promising results.
The firm has incorporated a minimum of two distinguished AI specialists into its tech group dedicated to language and graphics model progression.
Sources familiar with the situation, who wished to remain unnamed due to lack of authorization to speak with press, have stated that ByteDance is formulating long-term strategies to boost research related to LLM. However, these sources also clarified that contrary to previous reports from Chinese media, the company does not presently intend to establish a separate LLM research entity.
ByteDance did not provide an immediate response to a comment request on Wednesday.
