Black Myth: Wukong Ignites Surge in China’s Game-Enabled Hotel Industry, Skyrocketing Room Rates and Popularity of Stay-and-Play Rooms
The game Black Myth: Wukong triggers an upsurge in China's gaming hotels, leading to an increase in room prices. High-end PC equipped rooms designed for gaming are proving to be a hit among fans who either don't own their own equipment or simply desire a comfortable spot to game with friends.
Several hotel owners, who provide gaming equipment in their rooms for enthusiasts who may not own any, stated that their shared rooms were fully booked on the night of August 20th, coinciding with the launch of the game.
Trip.com Group, the reservation platform, verified the surge in transactions, stating that there was a 40 per cent rise in inquiries for game room accommodations compared to the prior day. The company disclosed that about 70 per cent of the gaming enthusiasts reserving these accommodations belonged to the generations born after the 90s and 00s, with men making up 75 per cent of them.
