Aleix Espargaro Aims for Top Podium Finish with Aprilia Before Embracing New Chapter with Honda in 2025
Aleix Espargaro expresses a desire to secure a victory, aiming for at least one first-place finish before his departure. He notes that there's still plenty of time left in the season to achieve this goal.
Aleix Espargaro is set to become Honda's latest test rider for the MotoGP in 2025, however, concluding his tenure with Aprilia is a primary objective for him this year.
Espargaro, compelled to withdraw from the German MotoGP last weekend after only a handful of laps during FP1, remained with the Italian team throughout the event to assist his teammate Maverick Vinales and the Trackhouse pair.
Espargaro's tenure with Aprilia has seen its fair share of highs and lows, with a significant portion of his achievements occurring in the recent seasons.
Espargaro isn't the sole racer to exit the manufacturer's team after this season; following his move, Maverick Vinales also made the decision to switch to KTM, aligning with the Tech 3 squad.
Since 2022, Espargaro has clinched his third Grand Prix victory, most recently triumphing in a sprint race held in Catalunya.
In the pit lane at Sachsenring, Espargaro expressed his immense pride in joining Honda during a conversation with MotoGP correspondent Simon Crafar. However, he also revealed his desire to conclude the season on a high note with Aprilia.
Espargaro expressed his joy and pride, stating that after an extensive career, joining a project like HRC makes him extremely happy.
"The season stretches out before me, and my goal is to secure at least one first-place finish before my departure. Following that, I'm eager to become part of an exciting venture that's currently facing challenging times."
"I aspire to contribute to enhancing the motorcycle and fostering a positive atmosphere within the team."
