Aleix Espargaro Aims for Podium Glory with Aprilia Before Transitioning to Honda in 2025
Aleix Espargaro expressed his desire to secure a victory before his departure, stating, "With a long season still ahead, I hope to stand on the top step of the podium at least once."
In 2025, Aleix Espargaro is set to become Honda's new MotoGP test rider, though his primary focus this season is to complete his tenure with Aprilia.
Espargaro, who had to withdraw from the German MotoGP after only completing a few laps in the first practice session, remained with the Italian team over the weekend to support his teammate Maverick Vinales as well as the Trackhouse pair.
Espargaro has experienced a series of highs and lows during his tenure with Aprilia, achieving most of his notable successes in the recent seasons.
Espargaro is not the only racer exiting the factory team next season; Maverick Vinales has also chosen to move to KTM, joining their Tech 3 squad.
Espargaro, who has secured three grand prix victories since 2022, recently clinched his most recent triumph in a sprint race held in Catalunya.
Espargaro expressed his pride about joining Honda during an interview with MotoGP reporter Simon Crafar at Sachsenring. However, he also revealed his desire to finish the season on a high note with Aprilia.
Espargaro stated that he feels delighted and extremely proud to become part of a project like HRC after a lengthy career, adding that he is very pleased.
"I have a lot of the season left and I aim to stand on the top podium at least once before I depart. However, it will also be exciting to become part of a fascinating project that is currently facing some challenges."
“I aim to assist in improving the motorcycle and fostering a positive atmosphere within the team.”
