2025 MotoGP Calendar Revamped: Seven Back-to-Back Events Replace Triple Headers
2025 MotoGP Schedule: "Better to Have Double Headers Than Triple Headers"
In 2025, MotoGP will eliminate triple headers and schedule seven consecutive double-header events starting from June.
A new development for the 2025 MotoGP schedule, which was officially revealed on Thursday in Mandalika, is that although the organizers are aiming for a record-breaking 22 races, there will not be any sequences of three consecutive race weekends.
Nevertheless, the schedule will feature no fewer than seven sets of back-to-back events, beginning with the Italian Grand Prix on June 22 and concluding with the final event in Valencia on November 16.
To put it differently, the last 14 stages.
Fabio di Giannantonio remarked that he found the calendar intriguing, particularly in the way the races are scheduled. He observed that there seems to be more time between events, which he believes could be beneficial for resting and thorough preparation.
Marco Bezzecchi, who is on the same VR46 team, commented: "The schedule appears promising. It's preferable to have many back-to-back races rather than three consecutive ones. It will be a change. Naturally, we need to experience it first to give a definitive opinion, but it seems quite appealing. Starting the season so early will feel unusual, but it's understandable given the number of races."
Fabio Quartararo from Monster Yamaha expressed that he would have liked to achieve an eighth double.
The 2021 world champion commented that, in their opinion, the schedule looks fairly acceptable. They mentioned that pairing Austin and Argentina would have been preferable, but overall, having two consecutive races is quite good compared to having three races in a row.
The initial trio of races in Japan, Australia, and Malaysia was organized to reduce travel expenses for the majority of teams by eliminating the necessity of returning to Europe between events.
The increase in events outside of Europe has led to this year’s calendar initially including two sets of three consecutive races abroad (India-Indonesia-Motegi followed by Phillip Island-Buriram-Sepang). Subsequently, India was substituted with a second round at Misano on the same date.
The tentative schedule for 2025, indicating the races that will occur consecutively, is outlined below:
