Zhou Guanyu’s $35-40 Million Backing Positions Him as a Surprise Contender for Haas in 2025 F1 Season
Zhou Guanyu has emerged as an unexpected candidate for Haas in the 2025 F1 season, bolstered by financial support amounting to $30 million.
Sauber F1 racer Zhou Guanyu has unexpectedly become a potential candidate to switch to Haas for the 2025 season.
As reported by AMuS, a German publication, Zhou is among the potential picks to team up with Haas.
Oliver Bearman is nearly guaranteed to be a part of Haas for the upcoming season, yet who will be partnering with him remains uncertain.
Zhou is considered a desirable choice for Haas due to the substantial financial support of $35-40 million he receives from his Chinese sponsors.
The Chinese racer has faced difficulties in achieving strong results on the track, and Sauber's showing has been underwhelming, with Valtteri Bottas, the driver's teammate, also unable to secure any points in the first nine races of the season.
Zhou brings significant financial support and connections to the Chinese market, potentially making him a valuable addition to Haas.
Zhou is set to encounter tough challengers to secure his spot on the grid for the upcoming season.
According to the same document, Haas is also contemplating Esteban Ocon, following his decision to mutually separate from Alpine.
Ocon is also in the running to team up with Audi, and may make the move if Carlos Sainz decides to join Williams.
Regarding Zhou, a comeback to Alpine might also be in the picture.
Zhou was part of their driver development program for several years before becoming a part of Sauber in 2022.
Once more, Zhou's connections to China could be attractive to a company such as Alpine/Renault.
Alpine is said to be contemplating Jack Doohan and Mick Schumacher as potential options.
