VR46 Express Discontent with Ducati’s Factory Bike Reduction for 2025 Season
VR46 expresses disapproval of Ducati's choice to limit factory bikes to three
VR46's lead figure responds to the idea of reducing Ducati's factory presence in 2025
VR46 disagrees with Ducati's decision to operate only three official motorcycles in the upcoming season.
In 2025, the MotoGP landscape will undergo a significant shift as Pramac moves away from its position as a Ducati satellite team to join forces with Yamaha.
Ducati's lineup will shrink, leaving only VR46 and Gresini as their partner teams, decreasing their total from eight to six motorcycles.
Currently, Pramac is equipped with two factory motorcycles. However, Ducati plans to allocate just one to VR46 for the upcoming season, leaving Gresini without any.
"VR46 team leader Uccio Salucci expressed his disagreement with Gigi Dall'Igna to Motorsport."
"Given that there will be just a single updated bicycle available, despite my preference for having two as has been our tradition."
"However, whether it's seen as good or bad, the decision lies with Ducati, and we will have one and manage with it.
"We'll strive to ensure it functions optimally, despite competing with manufacturers who have four units while we operate with three. This situation will stand out even more, as it will feature two red ones alongside one from our side."
Fabio di Giannantonio, who is presently on the VR46 team piloting a Desmosedici from the previous year, is anticipated to renew his contract with the squad. With this new agreement, he will benefit from riding a GP25 in the upcoming season.
The status of his fellow team member is still unclear. VR46 has seen Marco Bezzecchi depart to join Aprilia.
Salucci is optimistic regarding the team's position among Ducati's more compact lineup in the upcoming season.
"He emphasized that they were selected as the primary team beginning in 2025 after Pramac's departure, but Ducati had already designated them as the primary team for 2027, regardless of Pramac's situation."
Di Giannantonio has emerged as the leading figure for VR46 this year, building on his remarkable finish in 2023 with Gresini by securing a victory at the Qatar MotoGP.
In contrast, Bezzecchi, his team colleague, has encountered more difficulties with the GP23 compared to the GP22, which was the model he rode to victory in his and his team's inaugural MotoGP win in 2023.
