Valentino Rossi has confidently defended Pecco Bagnaia’s position while getting ready to receive Marc Marquez next year.
Ducati has chosen Marquez to join their official team in 2025, pairing him with the reigning MotoGP champion, Bagnaia.
Their collaboration stands out as one of the most thrilling and prosperous since the days when Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo teamed up at Yamaha, a partnership that eventually became infamously contentious.
Marc's unexpected arrival caught everyone off guard, including myself, Pecco, and especially Jorge Martin, according to Rossi as reported by Marca.
“Pecco will undoubtedly face challenges due to having a difficult teammate, but I believe he possesses all the qualities needed to confront this situation head-on."
From a journalistic perspective, it's clear that this is a captivating subject. However, Pecco didn't require Marquez on his team to demonstrate his dominance.
"A motorcyclist who has secured three World Championship titles, including back-to-back victories in MotoGP with Ducati, does not require it."
If Bagnaia manages to maintain his current lead in the championship, he has the potential to secure his third MotoGP title.
He leads the standings by 10 points over Martin, who is in second place, as they approach the next round at Silverstone.
Marquez, currently in third place, has yet to secure a victory riding a Ducati and is trailing Bagnaia by 56 points.
The choice of Marquez triggered a chain reaction, leading to the departures of Martin, Enea Bastianini, Marco Bezzecchi, and even the Pramac satellite team from Ducati.
Ducati has countered claims that selecting Marquez signifies a change in their strategy, moving away from supporting young riders.
Next year, Marquez will be the second-oldest rider in the MotoGP lineup as he teams up with Bagnaia.
He is just one premier class championship away from matching the record set by his formidable competitor, Rossi.
By partnering with Bagnaia, the competition will enter a new phase since Bagnaia is an alumnus of the VR46 Academy.
