Trackhouse Racing Teases First MotoGP Rider for 2025: Who’s on the Radar?
Trackhouse hints at upcoming rider reveal – who might it be?
Trackhouse is preparing to disclose the identity of its inaugural MotoGP rider for the 2025 season.
Trackhouse Racing is close to announcing its initial rider for the 2025 MotoGP season. The team hinted at the upcoming revelation on social media today (Monday) with the post: “I think we found our guy.”
The identity of that individual has not been disclosed yet.
However, everything should be clarified within the next day or so, and the question of who it could be is the main focus of the latest episode of the Crash.net MotoGP podcast.
According to MotoGP editor Pete McLaren, it seems that Trackhouse will be the next team to finalize their rider lineup. While the two factory Aprilia positions have already been filled, the identities of the Trackhouse riders remain unknown.
Reports suggest that the team and Aprilia are pleased with Raul Fernandez, and he appears content to remain with them. Although no official contract has been signed yet, it seems quite likely to happen.
However, there's more uncertainty surrounding the second seat. While Trackhouse has expressed interest in retaining Miguel Oliveira, who found his stride at the Sachsenring after struggling earlier this year, other teams are also eyeing him.
"There has been considerable speculation regarding the possibility of Trackhouse signing an American rider, specifically Joe Roberts from Moto2."
Jordan Moreland, who hosts a podcast, commented: "In my opinion, the teaser video didn't give off the impression of an announcement for a renewal. It didn't convey that feeling to me. It seemed more like a Tinder scenario with team owner Justin Marks browsing through various options. Do you believe it will be Jack Miller or Joe Roberts?"
"I truly believe it will be a fresh rider," responded MotoGP/Superbike journalist Rob Jones. "Typically, you wouldn't create that kind of anticipation if you were simply renewing a contract with an existing rider."
According to Pete, it appears that Raul Fernandez is likely to secure one of the available positions. The teaser seems to suggest that Joe Roberts is also in contention, and it looks like he might eventually be the one to get one of those spots.
"Should it be Joe Roberts, I believe it benefits the championship. Having an American rider return to the class, especially with an American team, is positive. In terms of performance, he truly merits it. He's been outstanding in Moto2 this season.
"If they decide to choose Roberts, they'll require an experienced partner for him. Raul Fernandez, who has spent several years in MotoGP, still possesses significant potential."
McLaren stated, "Trackhouse emphasized, with Aprilia's support, that their primary focus is on performance rather than simply serving as a development team for young riders."
"This situation is somewhat disadvantageous for Joe Roberts as a newcomer, especially since there are several experienced race winners, such as Miller, who currently don't have a team to race for."
"Roberts has significantly improved his performance in Moto2 this year, and we might learn this week if his achievements are sufficient to impress Trackhouse."
"Whoever secures it will have an excellent opportunity. Aprilia has been victorious in races over the last few years, and we expect both Trackhouse riders to be provided with RS-GP25 bikes. Since the European factory teams have filled their spots, competitive seats like those at Trackhouse are among the best options still open."
Moreland inquired, "Rob, how crucial is it to have a person with experience on Aprilia?"
Jones responded, "I believe it will be crucial. Martin is moving to Aprilia and, given his impressive performance in recent seasons, I find it difficult to imagine he won't be competitive."
"We're clearly hoping that Marco Bezzecchi can return to his form from last year. While they are expected to be competitive, the limited experience with Aprilia could pose challenges, especially early in the season."
"Notably, KTM will feature Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta, both of whom are already familiar with the bike. Similarly, Ducati will have Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez, who also have experience with their motorcycle."
"It will be crucial for Trackhouse to have someone with Aprilia experience who can assist Martin and Bezzecchi in the initial stages."
"There is considerable attention on the Trackhouse team's rider selection, as it impacts not only Trackhouse but also Aprilia."
