Title: “Lewis Hamilton Downplays Mercedes Discord Amidst Strategy Fiasco in Singapore: ‘Things Are Cool with the Team
Lewis Hamilton addresses concerns over team harmony at Mercedes following a strategic error
He comments on the tire decision in Singapore, stating, "In the end, I concurred with that suggestion."
Lewis Hamilton asserts that "everything is fine" within the Mercedes team despite their strategic error at the F1 Singapore Grand Prix.
Hamilton's impressive performance in the qualifying round earned him the third spot on the starting grid, but he ultimately finished in sixth place, trailing behind his teammate George Russell.
Opting for soft tyres, unlike many of his competitors, led to an early pitstop for Hamilton, who expressed his frustration over the team radio.
Toto Wolff later acknowledged that the tire strategy chosen for Hamilton was incorrect.
Hamilton has now spoken about concerns regarding his relationship with Mercedes, as he is set to depart at the end of this year to join Ferrari.
"Hello everyone, I'm gearing up for the weekend with some intense race training," Hamilton shared on social media.
"I understand there's been considerable discussion about our previous performance and the strategy we employed in Singapore, which ultimately failed."
"When such situations arise, feeling frustrated is a natural response, and it's quite simple for me to express that frustration."
"We understood that beginning with soft tires was a daring and risky decision, but it had the potential to give us an early advantage, and I eventually concurred with that suggestion."
"We also underestimated the actions of others."
"Don't get it wrong; everything is fine within the team."
"Like any thriving partnership, you experience some downs to appreciate the ups."
"We're willing to tackle difficult discussions and face challenging situations, and that's how we've accomplished so much as a team."
"We will stand by one another until the conclusion."
"It's all about love. Catch you in Austin."
