Supercars Championship Eyes Daniel Ricciardo for Future Racing Endeavors Amidst Uncertain F1 Career
Australian motorsport league expresses desire to attract Daniel Ricciardo
"Are we interested in having Daniel Ricciardo compete in a Supercar? Absolutely."
A racing championship in Daniel Ricciardo's home country of Australia is keen on involving him.
The Supercars Championship, a touring car series overseen by the FIA and held in Australia and New Zealand, has acknowledged Ricciardo’s open status.
The future direction for the experienced Formula 1 driver remains uncertain following his immediate replacement in the RB racing seat by Liam Lawson.
Ricciardo is set to be absent from racing for the remainder of the year and lacks a Formula 1 agreement for the upcoming season, signaling a probable end to his career.
Supercars CEO Shane Howard is optimistic that introducing a street circuit in Perth by 2026 might entice Ricciardo.
"Without a doubt, Howard mentioned to News Corp that Daniel would be warmly embraced by everyone."
"Are we eager to witness Daniel Ricciardo driving a Supercar? Absolutely."
"Picture him driving one of our vehicles, competing in a fresh street race in Perth. Wouldn't that be an extraordinary sight?"
"It would indeed be incredibly significant."
"He's an amazing talent behind the wheel and has such a remarkable character that people truly adore him."
"Picture him speeding around the Bathurst track, incredible. That would indeed be quite amazing."
"When the time is right, we plan to contact Daniel and his team.
"Clearly, he's dealing with a lot at the moment, and we acknowledge that."
Blake Friend, who was a member of our management team, previously worked with us.
"When the timing is appropriate, we will make contact, but without a doubt, we are eager to see him driving one of our vehicles, absolutely."
Ricciardo has remained tight-lipped about his future plans.
He has suggested during recent Formula 1 events that he's not keen on the idea of switching to a different racing series.
Currently, he finds himself without a position on an F1 racing team, and with slim chances of making a comeback to the lineup in 2025, he is now at a crossroads, contemplating whether to pursue opportunities outside of Formula 1.
