Ahead of his initial cabinet assembly, Sir Keir received counsel from ex-home secretary Lord Blunkett, who suggested he "ease up on the control somewhat."
The Labour member of the House of Lords informed Sky News that Gordon Brown once worked 18-hour days throughout the week, which proved to be ineffective.
He stated that it led to a "significant bottleneck in decision-making," and warned that Sir Keir might soon struggle with "reinjecting momentum and vitality into the government."
