Ricciardo Tipped as Slight Favorite Over Lawson for 2025 RB F1 Drive Alongside Tsunoda
Daniel Ricciardo leads the race, edging out Liam Lawson, for the 2025 RB Formula 1 seat
Daniel Ricciardo is tipped to rejoin RB in 2025, partnering with Yuki Tsunoda.
Daniel Ricciardo is currently seen as the leading contender to keep his seat at RB, partnering with Yuki Tsunoda for the 2025 Formula 1 campaign.
Red Bull has yet to make a decision on who will team up with Ricciardo at RB.
On Saturday during the Canadian Grand Prix, the team revealed they had activated a clause in Tsunoda's agreement, ensuring his stay with the team for the upcoming year.
RB is considering Ricciardo and Liam Lawson as their two choices for the 2025 season.
Ricciardo's expertise and appeal to sponsors currently position him as the top choice, despite his less-than-impressive showings on the race track.
In 2024, Tsunoda has surpassed the Australian in every measure of performance.
Nonetheless, Ricciardo had a solid performance in Canada, where he managed to qualify in fifth place and ultimately secured an eighth-place finish.
Sky Sports F1 correspondent Craig Slater is of the opinion that Ricciardo has a lead over Lawson for a spot to compete with Red Bull Racing in 2025.
"Slater mentioned that Yuki Tsunoda has agreed to continue his journey with Red Bull's secondary team through 2025 by renewing his contract."
"RB announces that Tsunoda has made significant strides forward, highlighted by his recent contract renewal. Tsunoda expresses relief and positivity at having his future secured so early in the season."
The driver from Japan has significantly surpassed Daniel Ricciardo in performance this season, indicating that the other seat at RB will be filled either by Ricciardo or Liam Lawson.
"Current buzz suggests Ricciardo might just be leading the pack right now."
Currently, all indications suggest that Ricciardo is the focus.
Various sources indicate that Red Bull's chief, Christian Horner, is safeguarding Ricciardo.
Given Sergio Perez's recent contract extension with Red Bull for another two years, Daniel Ricciardo finds his opportunities beyond Red Bull severely restricted.
Lawson made a notable impact as a temporary replacement for the team when Ricciardo was sidelined due to an injury in the middle of the previous year.
