On Sunday, Schumacher shared a post on Instagram revealing his relationship by uploading a photo alongside his boyfriend, Etienne.
Beneath the first message he posted, he expressed: “Life's true beauty lies in having the perfect companion alongside you, someone with whom you can share your entire world.”
Subsequently, the victor of six F1 races took to social media once more, sharing an image to express his gratitude for all the support and messages he has
He expressed his gratitude, saying, "We're overwhelmed with joy and grateful for the numerous well-wishes and remarks. Thank you, everyone."
Following the positive response, a representative for the Schumacher family has issued a statement to the German press.
The statement highlighted that the two individuals were "astonished" by the reaction received.
The announcement conveyed: "Ralf and Etienne are astonished by the incredible feedback received globally, something beyond anyone's anticipations."
Schumacher's announcement positions him as the inaugural LGBTQ+ driver in Formula 1, following Mike Buettler and Lella Lombardi.
Ralf, the sibling of seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher, concluded his career in the sport by the close of 2007.
