Racing Towards History: David Alonso Threatens Valentino Rossi’s 27-Year Record Under Marc Marquez’s Guidance
Marc Marquez's Protégé Poised to Break Valentino Rossi’s 27-Year-Old Milestone
The landmark achieved by Valentino Rossi in 1997 is on the verge of being surpassed.
A record held by Valentino Rossi for 27 years might be surpassed this year.
David Alonso secured his 10th victory in the Moto3 category this season, taking the top spot in Japan at the Motegi circuit
Alonso's achievement secured him the Moto3 title, marking him as Colombia's inaugural motorcycle grand prix winner.
Alonso is just one win away from equaling Rossi's record of 11 victories in the class. He has four more events to either meet or surpass this record.
Fausto Gresini, along with Marc Marquez and Joan Mir, each boasts a record of 10 victories in a lightweight division.

In 1997, Rossi achieved a milestone by securing a victory in the 125cc category, piloting an Aprilia RS125 as part of the Nastro Azzurro Aprilia squad.
Rossi's remarkable achievement of securing victories in 11 out of the 15 races for that season stands out, while Alonso is presented with greater chances to excel this year.
Alonso is considered a mentee of Marc Marquez, as they have trained together.
Marquez has consistently seized every opportunity to praise the promising talents of his young companion.
In Japan, Alonso conveyed that Marquez advised focusing on securing championships over rushing to MotoGP without a victory under one's belt.
"Alonso is known for his passionate nature," commented Neil Hodgson from TNT Sports.
He mentioned that upon seeing his reflection, he was overwhelmed with emotion and began to cry, dreading what lay ahead.
"In crucial moments during a race, when the stakes are high… While others falter, trying too aggressively and erring, he stands apart. He manages to direct his focus."
"He demonstrates remarkable concentration and is able to make rapid, strategic choices during races, akin to a seasoned professional a decade his senior."
"His skill in racing is among the best I've witnessed."
"His demeanor mirrors that of Valentino, marked by his charm."
