The prime minister traveled to Southport to honor the victims of the stabbings that occurred on Monday, and to express his condolences to their families who are experiencing profound sorrow and grief.
Sir Keir Starmer placed a floral tribute close to the Hart Space, a local community center that was hosting a Taylor Swift-themed dance class for children prior to the incident.
Tragically, three young girls have passed away, as identified by Merseyside Police: six-year-old Bebe King, seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, and nine-year-old Alice Dasilva Aguiar.

Eight other children sustained stabbing injuries, with five of them in critical condition in the hospital. Additionally, two adults are also critically wounded.
A teenager, aged 17, hailing from the village of Banks in Lancashire, has been taken into custody under allegations of murder and attempted murder.
Addressing the media following discussions with local emergency responders, Sir Keir stated that his visit to Southport was to "honor the victims and their families who are experiencing a level of sorrow and distress that is beyond what many of us can comprehend – something I find unimaginable as a father myself."
He expressed his desire to personally thank the emergency services and shake their hands as a gesture of gratitude from both himself and the nation for their efforts. He added that they always assure him of their readiness to respond professionally to any situation.
"However, it's clear that the situation they faced yesterday was far from normal. It was extremely challenging, yet their professionalism was impeccable. I felt it was crucial to be here personally to express my gratitude with a sincere 'thank you.'"
