Pecco Bagnaia has suggested that he plans to participate in an upcoming Suzuka 8 Hours event.
The renowned long-distance race in Japan saw MotoGP competitor Johann Zarco emerge victorious on Sunday.
Zarco teamed up with Takumi Takahashi and Teppei Nagoe under the Honda banner, making his debut appearance at the competition.
Paolo Ciabatti, previously leading Ducati's MotoGP efforts, was present in Japan as the brand backed the Kagayama squad, which secured a fourth-place finish on a Ducati Panigale V4 R.
An image shared by Ciabatti featuring the Kagayama riders garnered a captivating reaction from Bagnaia.
"Get everything ready, I'll be there soon," the MotoGP winner joked.
The idea of Bagnaia competing in the Suzuka 8 Hours is an extremely tantalizing possibility.
For Ducati to compete effectively, it would necessitate a comprehensive factory commitment, something that was absent this year.
To date, not a single brand outside of Japan has clinched victory in the premier event of the FIM World Endurance Championship.
This year, Honda secured victory for the 30th time in a span of 45 years.
A participation by Bagnaia would echo the actions of Valentino Rossi, who notably competed in the Suzuka 8 Hours.
Rossi famously clinched victory in the 2001 race alongside his teammate Colin Edwards.
In 1988, Wayne Rainey, followed by Eddie Lawson in 1990 and Mick Doohan in 1991, are among the iconic victors of the Suzuka 8 Hours race.
