Max Verstappen Urged to Refocus Amid Swearing Controversy: Rosberg Warns Against Energy Drain as Title Race Intensifies
Max Verstappen has been advised to cease "wasting energy" on the controversy surrounding his swearing. "He is expending unnecessary energy on this and needs to concentrate fully."
Nico Rosberg has recommended that Max Verstappen cease expending effort on disputing his warning for using profanity.
Verstappen faced issues during the F1 Singapore Grand Prix last weekend after he used expletive language to criticize his Red Bull car during the pre-race press conference.
The FIA handed him a community service order as a penalty for his inappropriate language, and he has clearly expressed his dissatisfaction.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Rosberg mentioned, "There are two aspects. Firstly, my children are observing."
“Conversely, we expect them to act like gladiators and express their feelings.
"Regardless, censor the language and allow them to express their feelings. It's crucial for everyone who is watching."
"If I were in Max's situation, it wouldn't be ideal since he's spending his energy on this."
"He requires complete concentration as he is currently competing for the world championship."
"It's unfortunate that he's facing it so frequently."
Verstappen expressed his dissatisfaction through several demonstrations in Singapore.
During his following press conference after the qualifying session, he gave only short responses and then faked a voice issue to avoid speaking further.
Verstappen also engaged in more detailed conversations with journalists outside of the official press conference setting.
Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton stepped in to support Verstappen by expressing their disagreement with the reprimand he received.
Hamilton labeled the penalty as "ridiculous" and advised Verstappen to disregard it.
The extracurricular antics are just one of the issues he's dealing with right now.
According to Rosberg, Verstappen is currently fighting to keep his F1 championship title.
Norris's recent performance has reduced Verstappen's lead in the standings to 52 points.
If Verstappen consistently secures second place, trailing just behind Norris, in every remaining grand prix and sprint race for the rest of the season, he will claim the championship for the fourth consecutive year.
