Luca Marini Opens Up on Challenges of Seeking Valentino Rossi’s Guidance Post-VR46 Move
Luca Marini expressed that reaching out to Valentino Rossi for assistance became "challenging" after his departure from VR46. Marini talks about how his interactions with Valentino Rossi have changed since he moved on from VR46.
Luca Marini has shared insights into the challenges he faces when getting guidance from Valentino Rossi following his departure from VR46.
Marini chose to depart from his sibling Rossi's squad, taking on a new role as a factory rider for Repsol Honda for the first time this season.
This led to a significant shift away from the presence of a MotoGP icon in his support team.
When questioned, Marini revealed the extent of guidance and assistance he continues to get from Rossi after moving to a competing squad.
"Initially, it was somewhat challenging because he's the proprietor and leader of the team," Marini explained.
"However, currently, we are engaging in conversation. We send messages to one another."
"I attempt to inquire about something from him. From an external perspective, grasping the situation with Honda appears somewhat complex, so I concentrate more on my own emotions and performing well with my squad."
Marini commented on the burden and anticipation of succeeding Rossi, stating, "The constant comparisons to Vale for any rider spell nothing but failure. Vale was the ultimate legend in this sport.
"Being his sibling is wonderful! He's a genuinely nice person."
Currently in his fourth year at the top level, and after achieving his highest-ever position of eighth in the standings last season, Marini has experienced challenges since joining Honda.
He stepped in for Marc Marquez, who left the brand he's closely associated with because of the bike's poor performance.
Marini's colleague, Joan Mir, experienced several falls from his Honda the previous year, leading him to openly consider ending his racing career.
In an astonishing turn of events, Marini only managed to score his initial point as a Honda rider in the ninth round of the current season.
The sole point he earned came after Augusto Fernandez, who crossed the finish line before him at the Sachsenring, received a penalty for tyre pressure issues.
Lately, Marini is often seen trailing behind the group during rides this year.
However, he has committed to a long-term stay until his formerly dominant manufacturing company regains its leading position in the sport.
"Indeed, we're experiencing significant growth. There's a lot of change happening," he affirmed.
"The challenge lies in the fact that all producers are exerting effort throughout the season, with each experiencing significant growth."
"Indeed, I'm eager to participate in this initiative. To me, this project is exceptionally wonderful and provides a significant source of inspiration."
"My goal is to achieve victory alongside Honda. Up to this point, my desire is to stay with them."
