Lewis Hamilton Pays Tribute to Daniel Ricciardo with Hilarious Memory Amid F1 Exit Announcement
Lewis Hamilton commends Daniel Ricciardo with a "gross" yet amusing recollection
Lewis Hamilton took to social media to react to Daniel Ricciardo's departure from F1.
Lewis Hamilton expressed that it was a privilege to race alongside Daniel Ricciardo following the announcement of Ricciardo's departure from Formula 1.
RB confirmed on Thursday that Ricciardo will be substituted by Red Bull's reserve driver Liam Lawson for the last six races of the 2024 F1 season.
The 35-year-old Australian driver's career in Formula 1 seems to be concluding with the Singapore Grand Prix. Over 14 seasons, he has achieved eight wins out of 257 grand prix races.
Seven-time world champion Hamilton was one of the rivals who paid tribute to ex-Red Bull driver Ricciardo.
"It’s been a privilege racing against you all these years," Hamilton posted on Instagram. "I’ll always remember our competitions, our shared laughs, and drinking from your shoe. It was disgusting, but I’m glad I experienced it with you, buddy."
"You have left behind a legacy of staying true to who you are, which is quite challenging in this sport. You've faced everything with a joyous smile, and I commend you for that."
"There are many great opportunities awaiting you, and I'm excited to see your future endeavors. I'm always here to support you, buddy."

Christian Horner, the head of the Red Bull team, said that Ricciardo is "far more than merely a driver."
He noted that it was clear from the start that you were far more than merely a driver when you joined Red Bull.
"Your unwavering enthusiasm, humor, and positive outlook have made a lasting impact on the team in Milton Keynes and the entire F1 community. We are grateful for the victories, the joy, the music (and I wish I could mention the shoeys). You will forever hold a special place in the Red Bull family."
"Eight victories, thirty-two podium finishes, and a total of 1,329 points. These numbers alone do not fully capture your identity and accomplishments. We appreciate you, Daniel."
Max Verstappen, who used to be teammates with Daniel Ricciardo at Red Bull and remains a close friend, responded to Ricciardo’s Instagram post by saying, “Keep your head up, buddy! There are plenty of great moments ahead.”
