KTM’s ‘Tough Love’: Vinales Set for Shake-Up After Aprilia’s Patience
Warning issued to Maverick Vinales regarding KTM’s level of "patience"
"Aprilia demonstrated an exceptional level of patience, unmatched by any other"
Maverick Vinales has been cautioned that KTM may not display the same level of patience as his current team, Aprilia.
Next season, Vinales will leave his position at the factory Aprilia team to join the revamped Tech3 team, where he will race alongside Enea Bastianini.
This opportunity allows Vinales to build on his unparalleled achievement, having become the first rider to secure a MotoGP victory with four different manufacturers this year.
However, he has been informed that a new setting might add more stress.
Broadcaster Simon Crafar remarked that Aprilia performed exceptionally well and demonstrated unmatched patience in supporting Maverick, ultimately maximizing his potential. Their efforts paid off.
"I'm not sure if any other manufacturer can match Aprilia's quality."
Aprilia displayed an extraordinary level of patience that was unmatched. On the other hand, dealing with KTM can be quite challenging.
"The main distinction is that criticizing the machine is not allowed here, and doing so could land you in hot water. At Aprilia, you could get away with such remarks."
"It will be intriguing to observe how their relationship develops."
"I wish Maverick success in achieving victory with a fourth different manufacturer."
Vinales is set to team up with Bastianini, who is currently a factory rider, to compete on factory-spec KTMs in 2025.
"Enea, make sure he's comfortable; he's a determined young man eager to succeed," Crafar stated.
"Once he gets comfortable on the bike, he consistently delivers good results. Based on my intuition, I believe he will perform well and endure in that environment."
KTM has a history of using their satellite team to develop Moto2 champions, including their present riders Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez.
The transition to having two seasoned riders from factory teams, Vinales and Bastianini, signifies a significant shift in strategy.
Crafar stated that KTM has utilized that team to elevate Moto2 world champions.
"They promoted three excellent champions, but it didn’t succeed."
"There is a limited selection of riders available in Moto2. However, you have the chance to secure racers who have achieved victories…"
"It is highly likely that you will secure a victory in a MotoGP race next season with Maverick and Enea."
"When Enea feels at ease, his speed is consistently high. Maverick, on the other hand, can deliver incredible performances at times, but not always."
"I can see why KTM would find that appealing."
