Jorge Martin Leverages Test Insights for a Strong Start at Emilia Romagna GP Despite Crash
Data from trials provided Jorge Martin with encouragement despite a fall
Jorge Martin shares insights into his successful experience on Friday
Pramac team's front-runner in the MotoGP standings, Jorge Martin, praised his team's intelligent approach during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix practice sessions, crediting the use of test data for their improvement in performance.
The Spanish rider entered the second race at Misano with only a seven-point lead over Francesco Bagnaia, following a risky tactic at the flag-to-flag San Marino Grand Prix that did not pay off.
Martin concluded Friday's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in second place, trailing behind Bagnaia, even after experiencing a minor fall during the final moments of Practice. He was among the eight riders involved in a series of falls during the accident-filled second practice session.
In addition to displaying improved speed over a single lap in comparison to the San Marino GP weekend, Martin also enhanced his performance over longer distances and attributes the progress to the insights gained from the Misano test last Monday.
"Actually, I surpassed my own record this time, so I believe that's already a positive note," Martin remarked.
"I'm optimistic about our speed and how I'm handling the bike. I believe we took a smart approach today. It seems we're on the right track, and let's hope we can enhance our qualifying performance tomorrow."
"Definitely, it was crucial to avoid an accident in the morning as conditions made it prone to accidents."
"In the afternoon, we effectively utilized the data obtained from the testing phase to enhance the bike's performance and configuration."
"Therefore, enhancing our performance on the soft and subsequently on the medium was my primary objective. Overall, it turned out to be a productive day."
After achieving a fourth-place start at the San Marino GP, enhancing his performance in qualifying was Martin's primary goal, a feat he believes he has now accomplished.
Despite beginning from the fourth position in the previous race, Martin managed to surge ahead into the lead right at the first turn of the sprint, leading every lap thereafter to secure the victory.
"He emphasized that enhancing his qualifying performance was his primary goal."
"We've managed to enhance our performance here in Misano. Given the current grip levels, I found it difficult to fully utilize my capabilities. However, it now appears we've bridged the gap to my maximum potential."
