Jaecoo 5 Enthüllt: Chinas Neuer Kompakt-SUV mit Vielseitigen Antriebsoptionen
The Jaecoo 5: A Chinese Compact SUV Available with Gasoline or Full Hybrid Powertrains
An electric version will also be on offer. Prices are expected to start at approximately 30,000 Euros
The Jaecoo lineup is expanding, this time with a new entry-level addition. Following the Jaecoo 7, the Jaecoo 5 is set to make its debut, originating directly from the brand's headquarters in Wuhu, China.
The vehicle in question is a compact SUV, positioned below the 7 series in terms of size and rank within the model lineup. It's manufactured in China and is set to hit our streets by mid-2025, offering three distinct powertrain options: traditional combustion engine, full hybrid, or fully electric. Here's what it looks like.
Jaecoo 5: Exterior
At a length of 4.38 meters, the Jaecoo 5 finds itself amidst a highly competitive yet lucrative market niche. Its design is crisp and contemporary, drawing clear influence from the Range Rover Evoque. This includes distinctive features such as the consistent beltline along its side—though it lacks retractable handles—and the rear end adorned with LED lights linked by a black strip bearing the brand's name.

The prominent rectangular grille featuring vertical slats, flanked by full LED headlights boasting dual horizontal daytime running lights, truly catches the eye. Vertical inserts on the bumper enhance the impression of sturdiness.

The doors are smartly designed to completely cover the sills, preventing any dirt on the car's body from spoiling one's trousers. There is a choice of five colors for this feature. The introductory model comes with 18-inch alloy wheels that are designed to optimize aerodynamics.

Jaecoo 5: Interior Design
The trunk space of the Jaecoo 5 offers a capacity of 480 liters when not altered. By folding down the back seats in a 60:40 split, the space expands to a total of 1,180 liters. Features include a spacious double floor and a 12-volt charging socket. There's ample legroom and headspace for passengers in the rear seats. The materials used for upholstery and fittings are of high quality.
The vehicle comes equipped with a pair of air vents, a 12-volt socket, and additional conveniences such as pockets behind the seats, rear grab handles, and a massive panoramic roof spanning 1.45 square meters.
The dashboard boasts a sleek design, featuring a centrally located vertical screen that merges seamlessly with the console and includes an induction charging feature with cooling to prevent smartphone overheating. Adjacent to this is an additional slot without charging capabilities, and beneath the console, there is room for bulky items along with three types of charging ports: USB-A, USB-C, and 12V.
The meticulous attention to detail in the design is evident in features such as the customizable ambient lighting, the carpeted flooring under the center armrest compartment, the high-powered LED light within the glove compartment, and the variety of soft materials and colors used throughout the upper and middle sections of the cabin. Interestingly, the choice of upholstery was made with the durability and ease of cleaning in mind, particularly for accommodating pets.

The information zone features a pared-down dashboard design that eschews a traditional upper eyelid, centered around a 13.2-inch diagonal touchscreen. This display runs on a highly responsive and feature-packed software, which also supports online updates and remote control capabilities for certain features, such as pre-conditioning the climate system.
The Jaecoo 5 is available in three different propulsion options. Initially, there is the standard combustion engine model which relies on a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 147 horsepower, paired with front-wheel drive and an automatic transmission.

As mentioned before, there isn't a four-wheel-drive option, however, for mild off-road driving, there's a hill descent control up to 60 km/h and cameras with a virtual view of the ground beneath are available.
Jaecoo 5: Cost Estimates
As of now, there is no information available regarding the pricing and release date in Germany. However, our counterparts in Italy estimate that, considering the base model of the Jaecoo 7 is priced at 33,900 Euros, the Jaecoo 5 might be priced around 30,000 Euros. What is confirmed is that it will come with a 7-year warranty or cover 150,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
