Hamilton Vows Full Throttle Comeback at Singapore GP After Baku Disappointment
Lewis Hamilton is determined to give his all following a disappointing Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
"Initially, we had it within our grasp, but then it just eluded us, leading to a disheartening experience for the remainder of the weekend."
Lewis Hamilton is optimistic about making a comeback from a disappointing F1 race in Baku during the upcoming Grand Prix in Singapore this weekend.
Having begun the race from the pit lane because of an engine swap, Hamilton managed to climb back up, ultimately securing a ninth-place finish.
The seven-time world champion managed to secure points in Baku after a last-minute crash involving Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez on the second-to-last lap.
Hamilton is ready to put his all into the upcoming race at Marina Bay Street Circuit, adopting an optimistic approach.
Hamilton shared with F1TV, "Reflecting on the previous weekend over the last few days has been a process. Everything began on such a high note; I was at the factory engaging in simulation work, something I seldom do, all in preparation. From the first lap, I felt completely in sync."
"Suddenly, it all fell apart and the remainder of the weekend was dreadful. There are numerous reasons for what happened. We're all deeply invested and everyone is putting in an incredible amount of effort. Therefore, as we approach this weekend, we're determined to give it our all."
"Success or failure, the situation remains unchanged. We're at a point in the season where our only option is to put in our maximum effort. If things don't turn out as hoped, it's not about giving up but rather about not allowing it to demoralize us and maintaining a positive outlook. With seven more opportunities ahead, we're committed to giving it our all."
Hamilton found himself regretting a faulty component on his Mercedes.
Following Sunday's race, Hamilton disclosed that it wasn't until after the qualifying round that the team recognized something was amiss with his vehicle.
He commented on the matter, noting, "There are numerous factors at play. For instance, while in the car earlier, it underwent significant modifications. This includes adjusting the mechanical equilibrium for both high and low speeds, by a considerable amount.
"Either you make significant adjustments to the camber configuration, or you modify the front or rear suspension's heave component. In the previous race, I thought to myself, 'I adore the car, let's not alter it excessively'."
"The alterations I implemented were quite minor, yet unexpectedly, one of the parts functioned in a totally contrary manner to its intended purpose. This issue wasn't discovered until the day's conclusion. When I started driving on Saturday morning, I immediately noticed a significant lack of responsiveness in steering, thinking to myself, 'This isn't right'. The team assured me, 'the vehicle is alright, it's been prepared as usual'. However, it wasn't until the day was almost over that we realized that wasn't true."
