Haas F1 Team’s Equipment Held at Zandvoort Pending Debt Settlement with Uralkali
Haas F1 Team's gear and vehicles will remain in Zandvoort until outstanding debts are settled with ex-sponsor Uralkali, pending confirmation of payment receipt.
The racing vehicles and gear of the Haas Formula 1 team will stay in Zandvoort until they settle their financial disagreement with the previous Russian sponsor, Uralkali.
Initially, Haas had intended to depart immediately after the night, but their vehicles and gear will now be delayed, requiring authorization before heading out to Monza for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix this following weekend.
A representative from Haas has informed Crash.net that the U.S. team plans to retain their gear at the Zandvoort track until Uralkali confirms they have received the payment.
Haas completed the payment, believed to be $9 million, on Friday, yet Uralkali has not confirmed receiving the money. The Russian firm initiated legal proceedings in the Netherlands to take control of the American team's assets on Thursday, just before the Dutch Grand Prix.
At this moment, there are no indications that Haas' involvement in the Italian Grand Prix will face any disruptions. Should their trucks leave on Monday, which is the anticipated plan, the team's setup should proceed smoothly without any issues.
"Sky's Craig Slater mentioned that the team was having a disagreement with Uralkali, a Russian firm under the ownership of billionaire Dmitry Mazepin from Russia. Dmitry's son, Nikita Mazepin, was a driver for the team."
"The agreements were terminated and Uralkali effectively appealed for the return of $9 million in advance sponsorship payments. Legal proceedings were initiated by them in the Netherlands."
This implies that the Haas trucks cannot depart from the circuit until the owed funds are settled.
"They've been packed. The vehicles have been placed inside the truck trailers. Haas acknowledges their financial obligations and is currently settling the payments. However, their trucks will remain stationary until the transactions are completed."
"It might not happen until tomorrow morning, leading to a postponement for them. However, from what I gather, it will be resolved. It's certain that Haas will be competing in the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in a week."
