Over the past week, Sir Keir Starmer has faced criticism for accepting gifts valued at over £100,000.

His acceptance of football tickets has sparked significant controversy, as several government officials have expressed worries about a possible conflict of interest.
What are the specific criticisms leveled against Sir Keir, what issues are his party members raising, and how has he responded to these concerns?
Her spouse's attire
Discussion around the Prime Minister's gifts surfaced last weekend following a report by The Sunday Times, which alleged that he violated parliamentary regulations by not disclosing that some of his wife's luxury garments were purchased by his major personal benefactor, Lord Alli.
It was disclosed that Lord Alli, the ex-chairman of the online clothing giant Asos, covered the cost of a personal shopper, garments, and modifications for Lady Victoria Starmer, both prior to and following her husband's appointment as prime minister in July.
Members of Parliament must record any gifts or donations they receive within a 28-day period, however, it appears that the entries for the donations covering Lady Starmer's attire were not made on time.
Members of the conservative faction are demanding a probe into what they suspect might be a violation of regulations, a representative from Number 10 admitted to the oversight, confirming that it has since been rectified.
"The spokesperson informed Sky News that they thought they had followed the rules, but after more detailed questioning recently, they reported additional items."
Sir Keir has additionally been given, and has declared, further presents from Lord Alli amounting to £39,122.
The contributions featured an undisclosed gift of lodging valued at £20,437, attire for work purposes costing £16,200, and several sets of eyewear amounting to £2,485.
Several Conservative MPs have criticized Sir Keir for receiving the gifts, with shadow science and technology secretary Andrew Griffith stating: "It's astonishing that the prime minister finds it acceptable for seniors earning £13,000 annually to manage their heating bills, yet he, earning 12 times more, seems unable to afford clothing for himself or his wife."
He is addressing the government's move to reduce winter heating allowances for the majority of retirees.

The Premier League ranks among the top providers of hospitality, and Sir Keir, an avid Arsenal supporter, has accepted hospitality tickets valued at nearly £40,000 in total since December 2019.
He has reported receiving gifts valued at £12,588 from the Premier League, along with numerous tickets to Arsenal games, amounting to more than £10,000, in addition to two tickets to the Euros finals priced at £1,628, and several thousand pounds worth of tickets from various other Premier League clubs.
Sky News understands that authorities are cautioning the prime minister that his acceptance of football tickets could expose him to undue lobbying, especially as the government intends to establish an Independent Football Regulator for the professional men's sport.
It is generally advised that ministers refrain from accepting hospitality from any entity involved in a decision currently under government regulation.
Discussions about his presents, such as the four Taylor Swift concert tickets worth £4,000, emerge as part of a broader debate concerning the high costs that concert and football attendees are facing to access these events.

Addressing the media recently, the prime minister mentioned that "all MPs receive presents" and he believes that the requirement to disclose these gifts is "a solid structure."
"I will adhere to the regulations whenever there are presents involved," he stated.
Adhering to the rules is crucial to me; I've consistently emphasized this point. I voiced it before the election and reiterated it subsequently.
"That's the reason why, soon after the vote, my group sought guidance on the appropriate announcements to ensure compliance with the regulations.
"More recently, they sought additional guidance, following which they made the necessary disclosures."
Regarding his acceptance of tickets to Arsenal games, he explained, "I'm a huge fan of Arsenal. Due to security concerns, I'm unable to join other supporters in the stands. So, if I don't accept these complimentary tickets, I miss the chance to see the matches. One might argue, 'That's just unfortunate.'"
"This is the reason why presents must be recorded. However, saying I'll never attend an Arsenal match again just because I can't receive free tickets seems a bit excessive."

Critics from the opposing side have also labeled the Prime Minister as hypocritical.
On Sunday, James Cleverly, the former home secretary and contender for the Conservative leadership, informed Sky News that Sir Keir had been "extremely critical of the Conservatives" regarding similar issues and had "essentially secured his position by criticizing others."
During his campaign, Sir Keir refrained from discussing presents, but he often described ex-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his administration as disconnected from the economic hardships faced by the citizens.
Several members of the Prime Minister's cabinet have come forward to support him, each presenting unique reasons to back his position.
Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds expressed to Sky News that Sir Keir is highly dedicated to his work, and as such, merits the opportunity to enjoy broader life experiences instead of being consumed by work around the clock.

Foreign Secretary David Lammy has stated that it is crucial for prime ministers and their partners to present themselves well internationally, thus receiving clothing gifts is permissible, especially in the absence of a designated budget funded by taxpayers for this purpose.
However, there have been whispers of dissatisfaction among members of the Labour Party, as several backbenchers have expressed to Sky News their significant frustration with how Sir Keir's senior team has managed this situation.
