Esteban Ocon’s Future in F1: Haas Emerges as a Strong Contender for 2025 Season Amidst Alpine Split
Esteban Ocon is reportedly a top candidate for a position with a prominent Formula 1 midfield team. Haas has officially confirmed they are in discussions with Ocon.
Ayao Komatsu, the team principal, has verified that Esteban Ocon is being considered for a spot at Haas in the 2025 Formula One season.
Before the Canadian Grand Prix taking place this weekend, Alpine has declared that they will end their association with Ocon after 2024.
Recently, Ocon has been rumored to be in talks with both Sauber/Audi and Haas as he aims to lock down a spot for the upcoming season.
It appears that his future steps depend on Carlos Sainz's next destination.
Should Sainz opt to sign with Williams, Ocon is reportedly Audi's alternative choice to partner with Nico Hulkenberg.
Should Sainz opt for Audi, Haas might emerge as a potential landing spot for Ocon, especially since Williams appears to be closely associated with Valtteri Bottas.
On Friday in Canada, Komatsu announced that Ocon is among the candidates being considered for the team.
"He possesses considerable expertise. He's claimed victory in races, secured spots on the podium, and has accumulated numerous points," he mentioned.
"He has collaborated with several teams, gaining a wealth of experience, which aligns perfectly with what we are seeking. Additionally, at just 27 years old, he's still quite young. I believe his dedication and professional diligence are exceptionally strong."
"I'm engaging in conversations with a mix of Formula 1 drivers, including those with years of experience and also the newer, younger talents in the sport."
"He's certainly among the few that I'm giving serious thought to."
Komatsu anticipates a verdict regarding Haas' racing team composition to be reached in a timeframe ranging from a few weeks to months.
"Somewhere in the middle, not right away, but also not too distant," Komatsu elaborated. "So, to put it another way, perhaps in a few weeks to a couple of months, if I may say so.
"Our team is maturing and we are enhancing our collective performance. It's quite a fluid scenario."
"I believe a blend of promising young talent along with seasoned expertise to provide guidance could create a truly thrilling synergy."
