Esteban Ocon Set to Join Haas in 2025, Shaking Up F1 Driver Market Ahead of Hungarian Grand Prix
Esteban Ocon is nearing a deal to sign with Haas for the 2025 Formula 1 campaign.
Esteban Ocon's potential move to Haas is expected to be revealed before the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend.
BBC Sport reports that Ocon is set to join Haas, with an official statement expected soon.
Following the announcement of his exit from Alpine earlier this year, Ocon has been strongly associated with a potential switch to Haas.
Haas now has an open spot for the upcoming season as Nico Hulkenberg has chosen to part ways with the team, opting to move to Sauber in anticipation of Audi's acquisition set for 2026.
Kevin Magnussen's string of underwhelming performances since the beginning of the previous year has led Haas to consider other options.
Ocon appears to be their top choice, with an agreement nearly finalized.
Ocon is set to join forces with Ferrari's young talent, Oliver Bearman, whose partnership was revealed just before the British Grand Prix.
BBC Sport has learned that Esteban Ocon is set to move to Haas for the upcoming season. This news is anticipated to be officially announced soon, potentially just before the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend.
"According to reliable insiders connected to Haas and Mercedes, who are in charge of the French driver's career, Haas has confirmed the signing of British driver Oliver Bearman for the 2025 season. This move signals the departure of Kevin Magnussen from the American team after this season concludes. Magnussen is now exploring options with Alpine, Sauber, or Williams in hopes of securing his position in Formula 1."
Carlos Sainz and Valtteri Bottas are also significant figures in the world of racing.
Sainz is considering Alpine, Williams, and Sauber, but he's holding off for any developments at Mercedes and Red Bull.
The team that ultimately secures Sainz could indirectly influence Bottas's future, as he is rumored to be a candidate for a spot at Williams, potentially rejoining forces with James Vowles.
The BBC article also mentioned, “This applies to Valtteri Bottas as well – and also to Carlos Sainz, whose next steps remain uncertain after Ferrari chose to bring in Lewis Hamilton as his replacement.”
