End of an Era: Pramac’s Competitive Drive Spurs Split with Ducati, Paves New Path with Yamaha
Pramac posed a challenge for Ducati, as their competitive edge was deemed too strong.
The tensions began to surface due to their overwhelming competitiveness.
It has been alleged that Pramac's competitive nature led to the emergence of tensions in its partnership with Ducati.
The satellite squad is set to transition to Yamaha for the upcoming season, concluding their two-decade partnership with Ducati.
Yamaha is optimistic that incorporating two additional motorcycles into their lineup will help propel them back to the top of MotoGP standings.
"This represents both a financial commitment and a significant accomplishment," stated Yamaha's leader, Massimo Meregalli.
"The Pramac team stands as a top-tier entity in this racing arena. Our goal is to forge a robust partnership with them."
"The objective we're aiming for in our collaboration with them significantly diverges from the goals we pursued in past years with other autonomous groups.
"Having four motorcycles in the lineup offers a benefit. Up until this point, our construction was a solo effort."
"We've already informed them that there's a significant amount of work ahead! The intention and enthusiasm are truly positive."
Sylvain Guintoli from TNT Sports stated, "The entire paddock holds Pramac in high esteem."
"For Yamaha, this represents a significant victory, an impressive accomplishment. They have the opportunity to leverage the Prama framework for improvement."
It seems as though Ducati has reached a dead end.
Their competitiveness escalated excessively, turning into an issue.
"Tensions rose towards the close of the previous year as Jorge Martin clashed with Pecco Bagnaia."
"The fractures became visible as a result of their excessive competitiveness."
"They arrived at the journey's conclusion, fulfilling their responsibilities. Now, they embark on a fresh endeavor, armed with the wealth of experience they have accumulated."
He further stated, "While the separation is friendly, it remains a separation nonetheless."
"Expect a few excavations. You don’t just end a partnership of this nature without a cause."
"Last year, signs of discord emerged during the title race between Martin and Bagnaia, hinting at an underlying tension."
"Since Martin couldn't make the ascent? Everything has been hanging by a thread.
"The Yamaha initiative represents a lasting commitment and, from a financial standpoint, it holds appeal for Pramac. Indeed, there's truth to the saying that 'where there's smoke, there's fire'…"
In the last race of the previous MotoGP season, Pramac's hopes for the championship were dashed as Martin fell short, with Bagnaia securing the victory instead.
Martin is set to depart for Aprilia in 2025, and should he clinch the championship title this season while racing for Pramac, he might carry the #1 plate with him.
However, following their confirmed switch to Yamaha, Pramac has charged Ducati with losing faith in nurturing emerging talent.
Ducati's decision to select Marc Marquez for their 2025 primary team resulted in the loss of Martin, Marco Bezzecchi, and Pramac.
