Ducati’s Dominance: Marc Marquez Earns Factory Seat with Exemplary Attitude Amidst Stellar 2024 Season
Ducati reveals that Marc Marquez's exemplary attitude played a key role in their decision to elevate him to the factory team.
During 2024, Ducati has been the dominant manufacturer in MotoGP, with Maverick Vinales being the only rider to achieve a victory on a different brand of motorcycle, specifically at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA).
Francesco Bagnaia, Jorge Martin, and Marc Marquez have been the top performers, with Enea Bastianini showing impressive form on several occasions as well.
Davide Tardozzi expressed great pride in the achievements of their teams and riders while summarizing the first half of their season to MotoGP.com.
Jorge Martin and Pecco Bagnaia are excelling, and we also have Marc Marquez and Bastianini riding the second and third Ducati bikes.
"As an organization, we once more take immense pride in the accomplishments of our engineers and teams."
Though Ducati has shown near-dominance, their racers are not flawless, with both Bagnaia and Martin having fallen from leading positions.
Tardozzi discussed the situation, expressing that the experiences gained will ultimately strengthen them: "I prefer not to label it as bad luck or errors. Specifically in Barcelona, Pecco is fully aware."
In any case, he is a true champion. He moved past this setback and the next day, instead of shedding tears, he emerged victorious.
"Despite that, I believe Pecco is his own toughest critic when he makes errors. He provided some justifications to the engineers, and we gain invaluable lessons from those missteps for the future. He continues to develop and improve."
Despite being a two-time world champion, he continues to focus on personal development, particularly in areas that require concentration.
"He was overly confident about his victory in Barcelona. It's crucial to maintain concentration until the race is officially over."
Next season, Bagnaia will be joined by a new teammate, Marc Marquez.
The eight-time world champion has delivered outstanding performances since becoming part of Ducati. However, it was his off-track demeanor that truly caught Ducati's attention and convinced them to bring him on board.
Tardozzi mentioned, "I believe Marc approaches the Ducati team with the proper mindset. He hasn't requested anything beyond what Gigi Dall'Igna has already provided."
"He demonstrated an exemplary attitude, which is the reason he’s been chosen to join the factory team as a rider in 2025."
