Ducati Confident in Success with Marc Marquez, Learning from Rossi’s Stint
Ducati affirms "genuine error" made with Valentino Rossi will not be repeated with Marc Marquez
"A totally different risk," Ducati affirms, following significant setbacks
Ducati is confident that incorporating Marc Marquez into their premier team won't result in a disappointing outcome akin to Valentino Rossi's unsuccessful period with the team.
By 2011, Rossi had secured all nine of his world championship titles and made the decision to switch from Yamaha to Ducati.
His two-year period was notably unsuccessful, leading him to return to Yamaha, where he would not secure another MotoGP championship.
The producer is confident that bringing on board the eight-time winner Marquez will yield a different outcome.
"According to team manager Davide Tardozzi in a discussion with GPOne, the dynamics of the wager have entirely transformed due to the current level of readiness involving the manufacturer, motorcycle, administrative, and technical oversight."
The true error occurred when we introduced Valentino to Ducati; we were unprepared.
Ducati found themselves unprepared to handle Valentino.
Today, we are fully ready. I'd like to point out that we now also boast a two-time world champion in our midst.
Once you're overseeing Francesco Bagnaia, there's no reason we shouldn't be able to handle Marc Marquez as well.
Pecco isn't inferior to Marc in any way. He's a competitor demonstrating a strong desire for victory, and he achieves this while maintaining exemplary sportsmanship, especially in situations away from the racetrack.
In the case of Valentino, the timing couldn't have been more off.
In my view, Jorge Lorenzo's decision to sign with Honda prematurely was a misstep.
Had he delayed for just a handful of days, the outcome might have varied.
Jorge achieved an astonishing 30.9-second lap time at Misano, a feat he accomplished back in 2017. It's unfortunate, indeed.
In 2017, Lorenzo joined Ducati through a lucrative contract, bringing with him the prestige of being a three-time MotoGP champion.
The producer was earnestly attempting to break a series of defeats that had persisted since Casey Stoner secured the championship in 2007.
However, Lorenzo, following in Rossi's footsteps, significantly underperformed on a Ducati.
Marquez marks their third effort to recruit the top athlete in the sport. This time, the distinction lies in Pecco Bagnaia having secured two championships for Ducati, boasting the premier motorcycle in the competition.
