Ducati Confident in Success with Marc Marquez, Learning from Past Missteps with Rossi and Lorenzo
Ducati affirms that the "genuine error" made with Valentino Rossi will not be repeated with Marc Marquez
Ducati emphasizes that it's an entirely different risk after notable mishaps.
Ducati is confident that incorporating Marc Marquez into their official team will not result in a disappointing outcome akin to Valentino Rossi's unsuccessful tenure.
By 2011, Rossi had secured all nine of his world championships and decided to move from Yamaha to Ducati.
His two-year period was notoriously unsuccessful, leading him to return to Yamaha, though he would not secure another MotoGP championship.
The maker is confident that hiring the eight-time winner Marquez will have a different outcome.
"Due to the advanced preparation we've achieved today in terms of manufacturing, the bike, management, and technical oversight," team leader Davide Tardozzi explained to GPOne, "it's an entirely new risk we're taking."
"The true error occurred when Valentino joined Ducati; we were simply not ready.
Ducati found themselves unprepared to handle Valentino.
"Today, we're fully ready. I'd like to remind everyone that we currently have a double world champion among us.
Once you're handling Francesco Bagnaia, there's no reason we shouldn't be able to take on Marc Marquez as well.
Pecco shouldn't be considered inferior to Marc. He demonstrates his desire to triumph as a racer, doing so with the utmost grace. This refers specifically to his behavior away from the racetrack.
"Timing was entirely off with Valentino."
In my view, Jorge Lorenzo's decision to sign with Honda prematurely was a misstep.
Had he delayed his actions by a mere handful of days, the outcome might have varied.
In 2017, Jorge completed a lap at Misano in an astonishing 30.9 seconds, a feat that left many in awe. Unfortunately, it's a pity.
In 2017, Lorenzo made a high-profile move to Ducati, bringing with him three MotoGP championships.
The producer was fervently aiming to break a streak of no wins that had persisted since Casey Stoner's championship victory in 2007.
However, similar to Rossi's earlier experience, Lorenzo also significantly underperformed while riding a Ducati.
Marquez marks their third effort to recruit the sport's most celebrated athlete. This time around, the distinction lies in Pecco Bagnaia having secured two championships for Ducati, positioning them with the top-performing motorcycle in the competition.
